BladeBug is an award-winning robotic start-up focused on wind turbine blades maintenance and inspection of leading edge erosion.
 

Once the blades are out in the field, they are affected by erosion and the weather. This means rope-access technicians have to abseil down them – and that obviously becomes more dangerous and expensive with off-shore turbines.

 

During the internship, I led the areas of programming, 3D modelling, component design through CAD and rapid prototyping via additive manufacturing and laser cutting, as well as rendering.
